I really need some advice... One of my guinea pigs sadly passed away last night :( I feel so sad for ginger who is the surviving guinea pig, I work all day and am away quite a few weekends of the year.

Getting a second guinea pig isn't an option as we found out after we got them that my boyfriend has a really bad allergey

They are indoor guinea pigs and he has put up with asthma attacks and sneezing every night because I didn't have the heart to give them up.

Any idea on what to do?

Oh I am sorry for your loss. You could maybe adopt out your remaining piggy to someone wanting a companion for their piggy.

I'm really sorry for your loss. I lost a piggy last week too, so I am right there with you. In our case, we always did plan to keep having pigs, so we have a new companion for our surviving pig in quarantine and hope that introductions go well. How old is your surviving piggy? It might be easier to keep a solo pig if she is on the older side... it will make for less time alone in the long run. Or you could look for a same-age companion, thus giving her company without extending the length of time you will have pigs for due to your boyfriend's allergies. Is he sure that he is allergic to the guinea pigs themselves and not the bedding? I've had a lot of small animals over the years and do better now that paper products are easy to find, but am allergic to almost all wood bedding and some of the dustier paper kinds so for years I thought I might actually have animal allergies. Turns out it's the dust from bedding that triggers the reaction and not the animals themselves.

I hope you can get some guidance, and that Ginger adapts to her new living situation. ((HUGS)).
