Hello everyone! I have an American piggy called Tuna Sandwich and he's approx around 6 months old. I'm a newbie to being a piggy momma and I was hoping i'd get some help.
Tuna's back legs look too long for him when he runs and despite him eating a lot it still feels like he's quite small. He climbs on his hidey home when he knows I'm in the room and squeaks like crazy! He also likes biting and licking my fingers. He also sheds a little. I live in a country where piggies are rare and the place where he was bought from seemed questionable. (He was given to me as a birthday present)
Is any of this normal?

How much does he weigh and Has he lost weight at all?

Like people, guinea pigs come in all different shapes and sizes so long as he’s gaining weight, I wouldn’t worry

I'm intrigued - where are you? How long have you had him?

Can you post some pictures of him? It would make it much easier for people to give an opinion of whether Tuna Sandwich's conformation is unusual, and also just because we like seeing pictures of pigs :D. Some guinea pigs are just smaller than others - as long as he's fit and healthy for his size being petite is not something to be overly concerned about by itself. At 6 months he's still growing so its the perfect time to get into a routine of weighing him and giving him a check over every week.

All the other behaviours you describe sound pretty normal to me. Our 2 girls are 1 and 2 years old now - they get VERY excited if they think I'm bringing them food (aka I open a door in the kitchen - especially if it belongs to the fridge, although they're not too fussy). There's lots of information in these guides that will help you work out what's normal, what's unusual and what's concerning. And you can always ask more questions here :)
