Wasn't sure where to post this :-\

Right as you lot know Summer died well anyway she was 1 week old and has made me paranoid about the other 2. I have been weigjhing them to check there weight and am a bit concerned.

Birth weight 4 days later 3 days after
Eddie 95g 98g 102g
Smudge 75g 88g 82g
Summer 75g 90g passed away

Anyway as I'm new to this not sure what they should be gaining but pretty sure they shouldn't be going backwards. I have offered them milk earlier but turned there nose up have offered CC but again wont eat it. I'm so stressed as obviously don't want all the babies to pass away. I don't think Pippin is eating enough to supply enough milk either. I guess she is bound to lose weight but she was 584g a few days after giving birth and today was 536g :-\
She is hardly touching her veg, hay or pellets this is so heart breaking it is like she is missing something but I don't no what? Do you think she might be missing her old cage as silly as it sounds I'm clutching at straws!

Shite just realised this is in chit chat rather then General can someone move it please sorry for the piggy talk in here x

Looks like Eddie is getting all the milk. I don't know what to suggest as have never had minis, but hope someone answers you, good luck x

I've only experienced one birth with one mini and he gained continually.
It does seem as tho Pippin doesn't have enough milk to feed the babies and what she does have Eddie is taking.
I would be concerned that she is off her food & if she were mine i'd take her (& bubs) to the vet for a healthcheck, she may have an infection. :(

As for missing her old cage, i would say yes she may be. My Hamish goes into depressed mode if he's not in his own hutch. :)

Right I am gonna swap her and the mini's back to there old cage tonight and move Tucker into the new one. I will take her the vets monday morning. x

Moved as requested. Have you tried Guinea Lynx for typical weights for newborns? They may have some info? :-\

Morning

Have you checked her nipples to see if milk is coming from both of them and that it's milky coloured? If her nipples are sore or the fluid is a funny colour she could have mastitis? Worth a check.

Can you try holding mum on your lap and letting her nurse Smudge by himself? I had to do this with the weakest of my shelties because I was worried how skinny it was.

Also now that there are only 2, at least they've got a nipple each now - so you should see some improvement. I'd say from my experience that you can easily get hung up on weight, are your scales electronic? If not then I know with mine you can put them straight back on it and they will weigh different! Especially when we're only talking about a few grammes.

As for Mum - could you try her with some grass? When all else fails they will normally munch on that. She needs to be eating something - have you got Critical care?

Keep us updated, fingers crossed

Sophie

Yes sophie grass is the only thing she will eat but only a handful a day. My scales are electronic so no they are spot on as don't trust my others.

she wont touch the Critical Care do you think i should syringe fed mum some?

|You could try making some quite runny critical care and syringing it - you'll probably end up wearing it though! Worth a try. Is she not eating anything other than grass?

Sophie

No not really sophie since the bub's arrived she hasn't ate her pellets went out yesterday and brought some others to try her with but not interested in any of them either. When she was preg she would go through 3 bowls of veggies a day and I would have to top up her hay basket about 5 times a day she has had the same one's now for 3 days she is just not bothering. I wanna put her back in her old c\age but I would have to use megazorb do you think she would be ok on it now with her scar?
