Hello!

I am from Australia! This is my oldest piggie Honey. I got her from a rescue, she is a couple of years old maybe 2.5 or 3? and was previously bred back to back. She was sitting on the lounge with me today and the way she is sitting sort of looks like there is a lump?

I saw it so had a feel around to see if i could feel a lump but couldnt, mind you I'm not really sure what I'm looking for? It could just be the way she is sitting as she is a fat little girl but thought id ask some opinions on here?

<3 thank you xox

If you place Honey on your lap or on a flat pillow where she is comfortable and can feel secure, run your hands and fingers down both sides of her body at the same time. You can talk to her and reassure her that this is a gentle and helpful thing that you are doing with her. As you feel her all over any 'odd' lumps will show up. If you are concerned about any lumps at all, then take her in for a vet check up, and ask the vet to show you how to do a body feel, so that you can add it to your general health inspection in future.
If the rescue where you got her from is local then ask them if they would go through the process with you. Any good rescue will know how to health check their piggies.
Honey is a beautiful girl and has deserved the right to a long and gently retirement with an obviously loving mummy. I love her double crest.
Having said all that, it may be the way she is lying in the picture, with her leg under her cheek that gives the impression she has a lump.

thanks for your reply! I will grab her out in a sec and have a feel :) The rescue i got her from is about 1 hour away but i have worked alot with a local one to my house which recently shut down :( I have sent her a message on facebook and am waiting for her reply. She saw all my piggies about a month ago and gave them a good once over so i am feeling that this pic is just the way she was lying :) but i want to make sure. Thanks for your advice! and yes she has a special place in my heart after what she has been through she can have a relaxing life now :)

First of all, she is totally adorable! Secondly, if they are plump it can be hard to tell if something in a lump or if it is just the way they are laying. I agree to put her on your lap and try to run your hand gently down each side to see if there is a mass anywhere that isn't present on the other side. If in doubt, it would be a quick appointment for a vet to quickly palpate her abdomen and let you know for sure.

One of my girls, Linney, is so round on the sides that I was concerned that she could have ovarian cysts! I took her to the vet and she is fine, she's just a very well-rounded girl!

I had her on my lap last night had a good feel, couldnt fill anything on either side. I think it is just her fat and fur but will get it checked out :)
