Hi guys noticed 3 days ago one of my boys front teeth had broken off about half way down, he wasn’t struggling to eat, so I left it to grow back and line up with his other tooth. It seems to be slightly growing inwards to the other tooth by the looks of it. I think it’s gonna be a vet visit tomorrow , any thoughts? He isn’t struggling to eat at all but I don’t want it causes further dental issues by leaving it

I've no experience of this issue, but agree that a vet visit would be best to make sure piggy is A OK.

One of my old pigs broke an upper front tooth. I think he chewed a knot in his wooden hidey house, anyway i took him to the vets. And if i remember right they clipped both uppet teeth back to short so that they grew even together again. And they checked there wasnt a fracture right up near the roots. I think it took about 2 weeks to grow back enough for him to pick food up again. I found grass the best thing for him to eat whilst his teeth were growing back to size

Here is a photo of his tooth xx

This doesnt look too bad to me
It looks like it might catch up with the good tooth. But dont count on it. Did you say hes still eating hay? I would take him to a vet thats knows their stuff about guinea pig teeth. Make sure you dont let any normal vet clip his teeth else you could end up in a bad situation. Like i did with one of my gerbils

@beckyxxx Be careful about inexperienced dental vets. If they trim the front teeth then he may start to struggle to pick up food and you will have to step in and cut his food into strips so he can pick them up.

His teeth look okay to me, I would be inclined to let it grow a little bit more first to see what happens. I worry about vets overclipping teeth.

I would also be inclined to leave them as they don't look that bad right now. It does seem to be growing down so just keep an eye on it. This happened to one of my girls and I just watched her carefully and let it grow back and she was absolutely fine.

If you are at all worried though take him to the vets.

Hi guys yeah he’s eating hay fine and food fine, sorry I didn’t realise I had posted to threads. I’m gonna let it grow a little more and make sure it matches up with his other tooth any problems and I’ll take him straight to the vet, he’s been to the vet for dental issues before and had to have his back teeth trimmed and they did a fantastic job so if needs be I’ll take him back there x

Yes, his tooth looks fine, but taking him to the vet is a smart idea.
