Hi guys.
Thank you to all of the piggie owners who have helped out in my thread in the introductions section.
As advised i've created a thread here in the hope of more excellent advice.
If you haven't read my initial post, basically it seems as though one of our girls has a large cyst on her lower back (about half the size of a chickens egg). It has developed an open 'sore' which is now a crater about the size of a 2p piece that oozes white puss and blood almost constantly.
The vet has given us some Baytril (0.2ml dosage) that we have to give her orally twice a day, and was advised to bathe the area 2 or 3 times a day with warm salted water. I asked the vet if i should use an antiseptic cream of some description, but the vet said no and to use salted water only.
After lots of reading here and elsewhere, it seems that cysts are a very common Guinea pig complaint, so i was wondering if any of you guys have had similar problems and how you helped the situation.
Obviously i don't want to go against what the vet advised by applying creams or lotions etc, but if anyone has any advice on food additives etc that may help, i would be very grateful to hear it.
Thank you in advance.
