Advice on irritated eye please

Hi everyone,
My Bella has managed to get what looks like a tiny piece of hay stuck in her eye! I've managed to remove it but it has obviously been rubbing her eye making it look sore and a bit weepy.
Is there a recommended product I could use on her eye to ease the irritation without having a traumatic vet visit, or do I need to get something prescribed by the vet? I've had a look at the recommended first aid kit but i'm a bit nervous to use anything I haven't needed to use in the past.

Ummm....is it cloudy? When the eye clouds, that means its healing :)

Try a cool teabag on it and see if that helps O0 You could try some optrex or similar :)

If it doesnt improve, I would take her to the vets to be sure thats all it is O0
 
Buttons got hay in his eye and ended up needing 2 ops to get it fixed but it stil flared up a few times. Might be best getting her to the vet incase it becomes infected plus the vet can freeze her eye and have a good look in it to make sure nothing else is in it.
 
I would say most times, you can get it out without anything resembling an op :) Just bathing it usually does the trick O0
 
I would be inclined to wait and see how the eye looks tomorrow and monitor it before rushing to the vets like pp said the eye goes milky/cloudy as its part of the healing process, if you have got the hay out it should heal fine just keep checking it and if you feel like it isnt getting any better take them to the vets let us know how you get on.
 
Hi...Bella's eye is much better now. It was very cloudy last nite but first thing this morning it cleared and is only slighty cloudy now.
Just to worry me even more though, I found a lump in Fizz's neck last night so she's been to the vets today! :(
The vet thinks it is just an abcess and has given us some Baytrill to give to her twice a day. Fingers crossed it will clear up and all will be well again. Gosh everything always happens at once!

Ahhh glad her eyes clearing up and hope the abcess gets better :)
