I’m so indecisive in naming my piggies, top boar, underpiggy aren’t really going to be there actual names.

Does the pig suit the name? That’s the hard part. For the ginger pig I thought of Donald(duck) but ginger leads him to be referenced to another infamous Donald and I don’t think it suits him. I also thought of Bramley as heard it from some YT videos I watched. But other than that getting stuck and feel bad it’s been 5 days and doesn’t have a real name yet.

when I play world of Warcraft or FF14 I usually play female char and have a list of names but don’t have a list for M.
I can’t get proper pictures yet. But this is best I have of him. He’s the underpiggy, and has accepted his role.

I live alone and so my pigs are all i have.B06B48FB-530A-4D42-8E91-3B144A614F89.webpBA66DD9A-BDAD-4331-B65E-FFA3EC4C394C.webpD8630350-279C-4D9D-9577-AAFCA7D36A5E.webp

Aw, your piggies are gorgeous, I’m sure you will suddenly comes up with great names for them soon 😄

There are so many to choose from arent there? I bet you will suddenly be hit with the right ones when you least expect it.

I think pet's grow into their names and they nearly always develop a few nicknames nothing ever seem perfect at first. I liked the name Sweet Potato but it didn't sound right at first, two years later he's spud, spudoink or spudonker or any other variation of spud I can think of and I couldn't imagine him being called anything else.

As @Sweet Potato said you might find you call him by a nickname more than his official name and there's nothing wrong with that. I call my Elvis Bonk more than I call him Elvis 🤣🤣🤣.
You could keep waiting until you get to know him more so you can find a name that really fits hit personality rather than rushing to find a name.
If you're really stuck I think there's a naming help guide somewhere on the forum though I can't link from my phone.

Hello and welcome Belfadin - they are gorgeous piggies ! It’s very hard to name them - I have two boars and struggled to name them at first - the white one is Bobby (after Bobby Moore - yes I am a West Ham fc fan) and the ginger one is called Geoff ( after Geoff Hurst another WH footballer) they have grown into their names and it makes people smile when they ask what they are called - good luck and keep us updated 🥰

Thanks all. I won’t rush and get their to personality to fit their name. More think about something harder it gets.

I think it was me thinking wow a weeks gone by and no name. Bad owner name the piggy! But more attuned to waiting to get it right. I woke up just now and there was some deep contented purring from one of the pigs. So just been orbserving a bit and it’s mostly walk about and hay munching and some taking to each other.

I was wondering what age do they get their biggest growth spurt?

They don’t get growth spurts as such.
They are teenagers between 4-14 months of age and during this time you will see a lot of hormonal, dominance behaviours (although you will continue to see dominance behaviours throughout their entire lives). 6 months of age is when the hormone output is at its highest and is often the time when their bond will fail if they aren’t compatible.

the deep purring is probably rumblestrutting , particularly if you see the bum swaying that goes along with it.

Picked both up today. Wanted to check each pig over make sure were ok. After 6 days of being in cage together and after dominance checking there was nothing I may have missed such as a nip or any obvious Heath conditions. Thankfully both looked fine.

The ginger pig is the wriggler but did the with a front left leg in between my finger and held him real close and he didn’t wriggle this time first time.

I was a bit anxious in picking them up. More worried of a wriggle and to fall out. I got them back on really low to ground before releasing they didn’t struggle much on return. I think I was shaking more thinking go in ok.
quick couple of pictures.

Ginger color could call Ginger. Well one for the list I suppose. But still going to wait for some more obvious personality traits. And keep writing names on a list see what sticks. Hopefully next week I can post and say the names 😀

Lovely pigtures ! You are doing really well ! Well done for doing the health check. It’s always a bit daunting handling piggies the first few weeks but you do get more confident each time 🥰
Looking forward to the names !

It took me like 1 and a half weeks to choose names for my guinea pigs! It’s so hard, isn’t it?

I never thought it would be so hard. But it’s just a really important and personal thing to do. Going to be 5-8 years hopefully of them owning their names and growing up it has to be right.

Maybe once I’ve got a few in the running I will write in cardboard and put veggies on top and move around the cage. Whoever the pig up for the name choice goes too is one they will get. I’m trying to get a list and then a shortlist per pig.

getting my guineas has realized me how alone I am cause there is just me and my pigs and hard to talk to them about my enjoyment of having them It’s nice to have a forum can talk about my pigs and experiences. My top piggy was popcorning earlier. Legs out jumping high running around. Was a nice and funny moment to see. I hope they are truly happy. When I checked them both out earlier and covered them in the fleece throw it was cute how they snuggled and lay down together.

I think when we get guineas it’s love at first wheek!

Giving anything a name is hard. My kids wanted to name our two piggies and that was an interesting process. My seven year old came up with one new name a day and wrote it down and then decided from there which one he liked best. My four year old said we should name the piggies something that they do all the time: Pee and Poop. :)) 🤪 I think my seven year old's idea is better naming process than my four year old.

Ah isn’t it lovely when they popcorn ! I got my two in April and I really get what you’re saying - I’m on my own with the piggies and my Labrador . My family live in two ‘hotspots’ so I’m not able to see them at the moment. I find having my lab and piggies keep me focused and there are always things to do but .....just sitting and interacting with them is priceless ! Have fun and we’re all excited to know their names .... we can all offer suggestions if you like 😉

They are cute!
We named our girls McQueen (Queenie) as she was like lighting running around, and our other girl Mrs Tiggy-winkle (Wiggles) as she looks like a hedgehog!

They were called Nibbles and Munch to start, but soon got changed!

Can't wait to see what you call them

You will soon find names that fit them.
They are all so cute but I don’t think that Cutie 1, Cutie 2, Cutie 3 and Cutie 4 would really work as names.

Is there a theme you like?
Flowers, herbs or spices, favourite characters from a book or a film?

Good ideas from Merab’s Slave - I like Daisy and Bluebell - have fun choosing 🥰
