I may have the chance of getting two 8 week old boars and am going to see them tomorrow.

Now it is a long while since I had youngsters and I'm wondering whether to go and get some alfalfa hay to feed them on for a while or is it time to use meadow hay/timothy hay?

Ah I just found a good thread with some advice from Wiebke on the hay,
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/...-hay-is-best-for-young-pigs&highlight=alfalfa

They're currently on Wragg so I think I should probably get some of that as I have science selective currently?

Any other tips on rearing youngsters would be much appreciated!

Wiebke's advice is spot-on. You can feed a little extra alfalfa if you wish, but it's not necessary. I wouldn't worry about the food either. It is fine to change their food to the brand that you are currently using, providing that you do so slowly over several days.

I haven't had babies in a while either, but I always forget just how nervous and skittish they are. All of my boys are completely used to me now, so I can go in and out of the piggy room and they barely notice me. But as you know, lots of time and patience is required with youngsters.

I hope they settle in nice and quickly :)

Thanks. Yes I collected them on them on Sunday so still early days! They are very shy but so noisy! Love listening to them. Will get some decent pics on soon.
