My boy was neutered today and vet said it went really well. He was up and moving about and eating after the surgery.
He seems to be doing well now he's home, he's fairly subdued but thats to be expected. He is also eating well and drinking lots. Whats worrying me is that he hasn't peed or pooped since he has been home. I'm not sure if thats normal for a while after the surgery or if it should be happening by now. His op finished about 9 hours ago.

Hi! peeing and pooping reflects the food and water intake from earlier, so be patient; the first couple of days are not quite normal.Wishing your oby a good recovery!

Thanks, it's just so strange to see his cage so clean wasn't sure if I should be worried or not. I'll keep an eye on him, when should I be worried if he hasn't started peeing and pooping?

I've read through that thread a few times over the past couple of days. It's really helpful

If he has been eating and drinking well, then he should be peeing within the next few hours and you should see poops coming through by tomorrow. As long as he is eating and drinking well, I would not worry at all - there is post in the mail, it's just not come through yet! A piggy that is really off and is not able to process any food is one that is very apathetic and comepletely off food.

Thank you been worrying over nothing then. He's definatly ate alot of his veg and a few nuggets and regularly seen him nibbling his hay and drinking.
I've just given him a big bit fleece to snuggle up in and he seems quite happy burrowing around in it. I think he was upset I've not given him his usual bed, he normally sleeps on top of his wooden house on a fleece pad but I didn't want him trying to jump up and down on it.

He is doing very well for immediate post-op! ;)

Sam still seems to be doing well, back to lots of pooping and peeing. He's still eating well and even had some popcorning today.
When I was giving him his meds and checking his wound I noticed that one of his testicle area's seemed more swollen that the other. Is this normal or should I phone the vet.

Please contact your operating vet tomorrow.

just got back from the vets with Sam and they think it's a hematoma. Just to keep an eye on it and it should hopefully clear up on it's own. Got another appointment next monday for his post op check so they said they will have another look at it then.
