Hello,

I'm hoping that someone may be able to advise me, today I noticed a really strange sort of lump on my guinea pigs tummy. He seemed to be uncomfortable with it being touched and I have never seen anything like it before. If anyone is able to give advice I would be grateful as I'm very worried. Thanks in advance

If it is just in front of the back leg, then it is likely his nipple. You should see one on the other side as well.

Hi and welcome!

When you look on the other side of the belly, you will find that all guinea pigs have got two nipples which look the same in either gender.
These two guides help you learn what is normal and what not; this helps you with the life long weekly weigh-in and health check:
Guinea pig body quirks - What is normal and what not?
Weight - Monitoring and Management

These guides and many others are part of your our comprehensive New Owners guide collection that helps you in practical ways what is normal, when and how soon to see a vet and what to do in an emergency, apart from learning to understand guinea pig prey animal instincts, behaviour and interaction; housing, diet and regular care.

Thank you so much I feel so silly for not realising that!

Don't feel silly - we have all started out knowing nothing.

That is why we have created our guides. They help you learn all the 'little things' that may be obvious in hindsight but aren't when you have never come across anything like it before.
