Hi, I've just taken delivery of my first bag of Fitch bedding. If you use it, do you put newspaper underneath & anything on top of it.

I've used Megazorb straight on the Corex base with hay on top. I'm presenting using White Paper Bedding (Teabag offcuts) on top of a thick layer of newspaper. Just wanted to know how other people use their Fitch. I'm due to do their run out on Sunday so any advice would be appreciated.

I use thick layers of newspaper and then the Fitch on top. Makes it far easier when you clean them out- just roll up the paper. :)

Thanks Margaret, That's what I was going to do but I thought I'd see what other forum members were doing. I may put hay on top if they don't like walking on it.

I saw you at the Cavy Corner Pignic but didn't realise it was you till I saw the pictures posted on here later. It was a great day & I'm looking forward to another one next year. The only downside was the long hour plus journey by car, my piggies were worse than taking kids to the seaside with their fighting & squeeking. They did enjoy their 3 hours plus on the grass though. I'll have to say hello next time.

I bought a 94 litre plastic storage box in B&Q today to store it in. How wrong I was. When I opened the bag it was fairly compressed so when I started to fill the box it took a lot more space than when it was in the bag. I've filled the box & still have 2/3 of a bag. When you get into it, it is quite soft so I should need to put anything on top like I did with Megazorb. I think it will be better than the White (teabag) Paper Bedding I've been using for about 6 weeks. I'll report back later once I've used it for a while.

I've been using Fitch for months! My pigs love it...and I do!
I use puppy pads from home bargains underneath. Smells less than newspaper :)
