Hiya, just brought home two guinea pigs (males) couple of days ago. They have been hiding all day yesterday and come out into cage on a night but one keeps going up to the other ones bum and the other seems to get annoyed by it, he will chase the other away is this normal? I'm just wanting advice. Worried incase it turns into a fight
I'm presuming its just a dominance thing because they are settling in but i wanted others opinions who may have experienced it just to put my mind at rest x

Hi and welcome

Your boys are currently in the process of establishling a working group in their new territory. What you are seeing is normal dominance behaviour.

You may find these two guides here helpful in understanding behaviours and how boars work:
Bonding and Interaction: Illustrated social behaviours and bonding dynamics
A Comprehensive Guide to Guinea Pig Boars

These guides are part of our new owners collection that specifically addresses all the areas we get the most questions about from settling in and making friends with your piggies (including a spot of piggy whispering), understanding their behaviour, boar care, feeding, housing (including enrichment and extreme weather care), learning what is normal and what not, regular monitoring and spotting illness early etc.
