i have 2 boars, I picked them up on Saturday from a guinea pig rescue, one of them (not sure which one) is producing smaller poo than ive seen before, it looks the same as the other poos but shorter? Is this something to be concerned about? What does it mean? They have access to fresh water, lots of hay, guinea pig nuggets and they have been eating some broccoli , bits of carrot and cauliflower leaves, is there something else I should be doing? This has only happened this evening ( the poo has been fine the rest of the time and as my piggies have fleece bedding I'm spot cleaning throughout the day).

Thank you in advance for any advice, I'm a first time piggy owner and just want to do what's best for my piggies, love them so much already

If you are worried, please weigh daily at the same time in the feeding cycle instead of the normal weekly weigh-in. Any weight loss of over 50g in a short time of just a few days or even just a day should be checked by a vet. Shorter poos in themselves are not a major sign of worry, but it is good that you are keeping a good eye out for changes in poos.

I would however recommend to not feed high calcium broccoli and cauliflower together; too much calcium in the diet can long term help the build-up of bladder stones in guinea pigs with a disposition for them. Both these veg are also prone to cause gassing, so that could have played a role for the change in poos. You might want to have a read through out diet guide; it tells what you can feed how often and in which quantities for a good balanced diet.
