Typical - last night my female piggy was producing 'cow-pat' poops and this morning she has diarrhoea. It is not watery yet but I have quite a bit of washing to do and as it is Sunday there are no vets available.
She is trying to eat some hay. Her female companion is not showing signs of it but keep trying to mount her!. Do I give the poorly one syringe feeds and/or porridge oats until I can get her to a vet?
In the 10 years of having piggies none of them has had diarrhoea so I am getting very worried. Just to add, if it helps, she saw a vet a week ago for a ?UTI and has just finished a course of antibiotics.

Diarrhoea is considered urgent issue due to the dehydration risk. As you are in the uk, there are vets available today but it will be an out of hours service. Call your normal vet surgery number or check their website and there will be information on which local practice covers their out of hours service. Even if they aren’t able to see her, getting advice from a vet is best

It could be linked to the antibiotics. Were you giving a probiotic at all?

Switch to daily weight checks and please do syringe feed critical care or mushed pellets today. There is no need for porridge oats.
Due to the dehydration risk, carefully offer water from a syringe

Thanks for that. I was not advised by the vet about probiotics. Yes there is an out of hours vet 1/2 hr drive away but having taken 2 piggies there a while back they are not piggy savvy and on both occasions they said pts :(

Vets don’t usually mention probiotics because they aren’t medication.
I would give her a probiotic (if you’ve got some/can get some). Fibreplex would be best given the situation

If her companion is well then you can also use live microbiome transfer.
Put her friend in a box/enclosure and with some snacks. The moment she produces poops, immediately put the poops into a small dish of water (just enough to cover the poops). It has to be immediate as the good bacteria start to die off very quickly. Soak the poops (I think it’s 5-10 minutes), then discard the poops and syringe the water to your poorly piggy.

This guide has a section at the end about it

How to Improvise Feeding Support in an Emergency

Thanks I will give poop soup a go. I have some Emaraid in so will give her that and see how she goes with both. I took her to an emergency vet and after a 3hr wait they said it could be a reaction to last week's antibiotics.
Fingers crossed the soup works

I’m hoping your piggy is showing signs of getting better
Sending love and healing vibes to you both ❤️❤️

Forgive any spelling mistakes in this post I am typing this through floods of tears. I have been offering Tabitha critical care every 2 hours in the night but the meds injected by the vet to encourage bowel movement have not worked and she hasn't pooped for 36 hours. I know she is fading and I have had to make the heaartbreaking decision to help her get to the rainbow bridge and have a vet appt in an hour. I am a wreck only because I love her so much. I will post a tribute when strong enough :(
