We have 3 gorgeous long haired guinea pigs which we bought as they were all 'boys' we have just found out they are not! Hopefully this won't be a problem as they all get along very well but we will need to get Custard who is the only boy neutered.

My first question is can anyone recommend a vet in the North West/Merseyside area who they have used successfully for neutering and how much was it ?

My second question is can anyone offer some advice on looking after my pregnant piggie?

We love our piggies very much, so don't want to split them up as they are very happy together - thank you in advance for your advice ?/

Hello and welcome to the forum, hopefully we can help a little.

This thread is a great source of info for pregnancies and should answer most if not all of your questions.

The male must be removed before the births, he will mate the new mum within hours otherwise and a resulting back to back pregnancy is dangerous for the sow. Any baby boars should be removed at 21 days as they can also reproduce from a very early age, baby sows can be fertile from 4 weeks.

Neutered males will also mate a new mum, a neutered male also needs to be 6 weeks post op before they can safely mix.

If you have any pregnancy/baby/mum questions please post in the Pregnancy section so the experienced members who monitor it will see and respond to your query quickly.
