I have 2 swiss boars, they are father and son. I have only had them since September.
Father is roughly just over 2 years and son just over 8 months.
They did live together then started fighting really badly so have been separated.

However I now feel really mean, the dad was never very sociable and had souly been used for breeding.
The son however was sociable and now he is like a little hermit and rarely comes out.
I do get him out and he is fine when he can see the others but when he is in his hutch he doesn't leave the 'bedroom'.
I was thinking of pairing him up?

Also the father I don't know whether to get him neutered so he can go in with a sow?
Or do some boys just like being bachelors?

Any advice welcome.

I just do no want to risk neutering and the expense if it may not help.

How long have they been separated? How bad was the fight? was there blood?

Since Oct/Nov
Both drew blood, very lucky it wasn't really bad as one had gone for the eye
The other had gone for the nose
The son and father can still each other at grass time, through bars.
But Dad is still trying to attack son
Son appears friendly.

Neutering and pairing dad with a sow is an option, but maybe try boar dating him first to try to avoid unnecessary surgery? And boar date son.

I was going to suggest tryng to re-bond them, but as blood was drawn and the dad is still showing agression, its out of the question.

Contact a rescue near to you and arrange to take them both there to pick a new friend each, the rescue will make sure the boys and their new friends are bonded. Take a look in the rescue section.
