I lost my older pig a few weeks ago, he went down hill very fast. I had put them outside in the big hutch because the weather had improved but then we had rain! I brought them back inside and noticed he was not himself, I kept a close eye on him that day and then the next day he was coughing but his chest didn't seem wheezy. He was very stiff and not eating, so I syringed fed him. I had an appointment for him at the vets but he didn't make it.
I took my other boar to the vets this week because the wounds on his back were not healing, I had initially thought they were bite wounds because him and the other guinea had been fighting and they both came off injured. But because he was now on his own I thought they might be mites. The vet was pretty certain it was bites that he kept scratching, but his skin is a little inflamed. I took him home and bathed him in aloe shampoo and then massaged him in neem oil.
His back is looking a bit better, but he is still itching and has started to sneeze/cough. He seems in good heath otherwise, he is eating and drinking!
Sorry for such a long message but would love some advice, as I don't want to loose another pig!
