Hi all

I was at one of are local animal shelters today planning on getting two soars for my two boars after they are snipped. But they only had a bonded male and female together and they were adorable. Would love to take them but would still like tow girls for my orginal boys who don't get on. Has any body had six guinea pigs before, is it difficult to handle?thanks

I'm a rescue, so at any given time I normally have 20plus. I personally don't think it's difficult at all. Yes, it's more expensive as there's more to feed and clean, but it's also more happy faces. The only problem that I have is holding them all as much as they need to, but 20plus is a lot different than 6! If you have the time and money, I don't see why not.

thanks for that :). Yes I do have the time and money. My only is that i live in an apartment with no garden. Would was thinking that I could bring them up to my parents garden the odd time in the better weather. If i had three couples all neutered would they be allowed to mix on the floor?

Well, i have five at the mo. I find it very easy to look after them. Even working a lot and with a 2 year old.
They do have access in the warmer weather to a big run in the garden just outside their shed.

i had 6 piggies, my number just rose 2 eight. i have never really had them living all together, but now i have a group of 6 and two, you will need a big hutch!

i was going to go for three big c&c type cages. two in each. could i have them all together at floor time though?

p.s I am trying very hard to convince my parnter into taking the two recuse pigs. But they are a wee couple that have been in the shelter for nearly two years :smitten:

well i have 9 and they live freerange in the shed

Your idea sounds fine you could possibly 2 females per neutered boar if space allows it

Hi if you're going to have them together in 'playtime' you'll have to be there every second otherwise, mmmm 60 days + later there will be an addition or two :o

Thanks for all your help. Such a great forum. It really has put my mind at ease.

the resue pair are nuertered and my two boys that are not getting along or going to the vets this thursday for the op (very worried about this) and in time i hope to get them two girls 6/7 weeks after their op. So hopefully no babies!
