I have just been to P@H for some hay but with it being the bank holiday they had a woman from a rescue outside with a giant rabbit. With us looking for a mate for Spike soon we asked whether she had guinea pigs. She said she was getting some soon but questioned Spike's age (approx 5 months) and said that she wouldn't rehome a guinea with us because Spike was way too young, guineas are territorial at this age and there was a high chance one of the pigs would get killed. She said she had seen guineas lose legs and allsorts.
Now I have spent a lot of thime on the forum looking up about bonding. Spike is getting neutered on Thursday so we would be looking for a girl. But now she has really frightened me! I know you have to quarantine the newcomer and introduce on neutral ground etc. and perhaps keep them as next door neighbours for a while but if she won't let me rehome one will anyone else? I don't want my Spike to be lonely!
Sorry for the long post but if this is the case I will hold off his neutering until he is a little bit older.
