I have wrote a thread a while back about my piggies and ringworm. I bought them from PAH about 3 weeks ago. After about 1 1/2 weeks I noticed hair loss and took them to the vet. She thought it was mites but took a fur sample just to be sure. Now a week later it has tested positive for ringworm. Would they have got it from PAH or do you think it was my fault? I've now got to take them every 4 days to the vet for 4 treatments.
Do you think I should phone and complain and am I within my rights to ask for the vet fees?

Thanks

Shary

It's likely they had it in Pets at home. I certainly would complain - do not allow pets at home to treat your pigs.

What treatment are they getting?

Go and see the manager of the store that you brought them from and take the receipts of all the treatment that you have had to have, usually they refund you the cost.

If you can get a written confirmation of your vets with the dates of treatment and the result of the tests, you are on pretty safe ground - I think they have a policy of refunding vet treatment in the first two weeks after sale.

You are by far not the first to have a ringworm problem. Just don't hand any pets of yours back for treatment - it has been a struggle for some members to get them back. :(

I am not taking them back to PAH. The vet said they will need 4 lots of baths with 4 days in between. Hmmm I have had the piggies longer than 2 weeks, would I still be able to get the fees? It's taken a week for the results to come back

As long as you started vet treatment within two weeks I think you are on safe ground. Lab results take time.
