Greetings,
over the past few weeks my pigs have developed a problem/illness that has me baffled. My normally healthy pigs have started to have soreness in the lower abdomain and some develope loss of function in their rear legs, some recover , others sadly dont. In boars, I have noticed a bloody discharge in the urine, any suggestion to what may be occuring here.

ALL pigs are house in large cages, cleaned weekly along with all water and food containers, so its not overcrowding or hygene.

ALl pigs are fed on fresh greens, good quality hay, dry piggy food, carrots and friut and veg, daily and always have access to clean water.

thanks for your replys in advance, jenga 8...

I agree - please see a vet, the forum is unable to diagnose illnesses. Once you have a confirmed diagnosis then hopefully we can offer the relevant advice. If you need help finding a cavy savvy vet please give your location so we can recommend one in your area.

yess go and see the vet! when you say blood in urine my boar had that and he ended up having bladder stones! but he is fine now, but it might just be a bladder infection? better safe than sorry!

I can only echo what everyone else has already said. Please, please urgently take your guinea pigs to a vet. If this has been going on for weeks without vet treatment I am shocked. Please go to a vets today.
