Hi everyone! I would just like some advice. So I have a one year old guinea pig, his name is Bacon. A few months ago I got his now 6 month old friend, Eggs. I'm just a little bit worried because I've had Eggs for a while now, but he still hasn't warmed up to me. He has always been skittish and easily scared, especially when he's without Bacon, but I thought he would start to relax with me a bit. He is an Absynnian, so I heard they are generally more hyper than smooth-coated guinea pigs, like Bacon. So I was just wondering... How do I get Eggs to like me more? All replies are welcome. Thanks!

Hello, I have just seen your other thread, welcome to the forum to you.. Bacon & Eggs -lovely names

Don't worry, it can take time sometimes with Piggies, I know Abby's are supposed to be a little more hyper and pesky but we found that 2 of our Abby's have been the most timid piggies ever. It took 7 months until Vimto has really bonded with us (she used to bite and draw blood) it turned out she was just very skittish and scared.
We tamed her with doing laptime for only 1 minute at a time then building it slowly up. We would have her out, feed her some nice veg then pop her home, we kept doing this and increasing the time on lap slowly, we would also have her out with a friend and I would have one pig and Mrs SB the other, so they could see each other, this gave her a little more confidence around us I think...
We also used the below technique for picking her up so as not stress her as she hates been picked up

Sorry, no advice, but just to say my absynnian is skittish, nursing munched finger. Love the names!

Thanks so much for the video! You're guinea pigs are so adorable! :) My profile picture is a close-up of Bacon, just so you can kind of see what he looks like. I will try your method!

Hi! I saw your other thread first and have posted a link with tips on there.

Guinea pigs that have not had any kind human interaction before they were sold, can take a long time to come round. Patience and persistence will get you there. it is likely that he will never be a great cuddle pig, but you can still create a relationship with him through interacting.

Thank you @Wiebke. I will take a look at those tips later. I don't think Eggs had any social interaction with his previous owners. We got him when he was a baby. Thank you everyone with all the helpful things! :)
