today we took Walter to the vet because he was having trouble walking. But he was eating and drinking totally fine. The vet prescribed metacam and some kind of vitamin mix called “Hem-a-Spike”. He’s still eating and drinking fine but what do I do if he’s still kind of stumbling?

Hi and welcome!

I have not come across the vitamin mix, but metacam is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory. What did your vet think was the matter with your boy?

Could you please also specify the walking problems, as they can vary depending on what is causing them:
- Is your boy hopping on his back legs?
- Is he limping on one leg and favouring his injured leg?
- Has he got balance problems and keeps falling over?
- Is he always falling to the same side?
- Is he turning in circles?
- Is he just very unsteady on his legs?

Thank you! We cannot advise you from your vague description.

Hi, what did your vet think was causing the problem? If your piggy isn't improving then take him back to the vet or to a different one who is more savvy about guinea pigs.
