hiah, as most of you know we have split bailey and muffin(rabbit) up today as it was lovely out we thought we would put bailey out in the run with muffin, bailey went in the hutch but muffin kept chasing bailey out, all bailey wanted to do was be with his mate. :(

we now have the wee man back in the house in the rabbit100 and he looks really quiet and sad, to be honest i want to get him a friend but i really dont know how to go about it and where to go and what to do :( any ideas where i can get advice would be apprieciated :'(

awwwww, Poor Bailey! :-* :-*

A young boar might be the best option for the fella :)

You're in Scotland.. how about a visit to Thistle rescue?

yes i agree with kelly a baby boar would probably be best unless you neuter Bailey and get him a wife!
i have just introduced a babyboar to a 1yr old boar without any problems. if Bailey is quite a dominate pig you will need to choose carefully as their tempermants vary so much even as babies, the baby i chose has a placid nature which made the bonding so much easier.

blah i hate sending emails lol i hate waiting for replies :embarassed: lol

aww I'm sure you'll hear something soon :)

Bailey is about 5/6? I wouldn't reccommend neutering the fella :)

bailey is 2.5 ;) she replied and suggests a very very young male no older than 10weeks and hopefully he will accept him. I'm just worried....iv never done piggy intros before ;D

It's usually straightforward enough! Have a good read of http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm. Hopefully another member with a thistle cavy soon, yay!

she doesnt have any young boys just now though but i shall keep my eye out ;)

we have a slight step forward, i have emailed her again asking if she knows of anywhere with young boars,

we are also looking for a bunny for muffin :D

:tickedoff: I'm really angry at my mother today shes now saying she is going to put the rabbit and pig back together whether i want her to or not! she wont listen, she wants to put his life at risk for no reason :'(

just had another word with her and iv to do what i think is best for them .....*sigh* mothers! ;D

Everywhere is full of conflicting advice :(

we have been in contact with a few different rescues and everyone says different things. so far we have been told rabbits and pigs shouldnt live together...which i personally agree with, then we have been told they wouldnt accept their own kind then muffin should never be near another rabbit and bailey should be kept alone.

**goes off in a tantrum** :tickedoff:

Rabbits and guinea pigs should not be kept together. I don't believe this is opinion - there is fact there to back it up. Rabbits can transmit serious illnesses to piggies, they can injure them and they have completely different dietary requirements.

I don't see any reason why Bailey should be kept on his own. It is not impossible to bond adult boars by any means, though it might not be easy.

no dont get me wrong... they are not going back together!

Its just to disheartening to phone up all these different rescues looking for advice and help and you get a different answer everytime!

Anyway on the boar hunt wendi at thistle cavies has said she is expecting for young babies in and should there be a spare boar she will contact me to take bailey up to meet him.
AAAND

we phoned fife rabbit rescue and she has said the next female to come in has our name on her and same again we will take muffin up to meet her before we decide :D
