I keep wondering what our guineapigs thinks of us, I guess it goes for all animals but I am talking about guineas and when we look after them well what they feel towards us?

What does anyone else think?

I like to think that my piggies trust me and that they know that everything I do for them is to keep them healthy and happy. My little Jerry is quite poorly now and takes three separate medications every day, but he quite happily comes up to the edge of the cage to willingly take them. I hope it's because he knows I'm trying to make him all better :)

I believe ditto trusts me I don't no about love as I'm not sure if they actually feel the love emotion however I know he finds comfort from me cuddling him as he now begs at the bars to be picked up and when we are sat relaxing he snuggles ino the crotch of my arm and falls asleep or lays under my chin on my boobs lol! He won't go near chris he runs away from him..

My piggies think someone entering the room must be bringing food, they repeat this routine even when the dog enters they all run up wheeking at him.

I must say I do doubt there intelligence but certainly I think at least Milo and Pebbles know I won't eat them.

Patrick on the other hand was super tame, I rate his intelligence much higher.
Here's two of my favorite video's.

Patrick showing how intelligent he was.

Patrick x) such a clever boy, lovely videos Jo.

They certainly show trust and yes, I would say affection. Putt would climb up on my lap for cuddles when I'd pop her on the settee next to me. So that shows me that they must feel something from being close to us and want to be with us, so in a way that is a kind of love I guess.

Awww Patrick is huge, I think sometimes confident boys get to be so tame. I just think how frightened they are when we get them and then how tame they become with us. I suppose that's why we love them and have them. Thanks for replies.

I currently have one piggie and she is all me! She runs away from my other half lol. She sits with me and let's me give her lots of fuss, strange really. I think they must have a sixth sense about who to trust.

Patrick is so much like Stanley! (although I can't claim Stanley comes running up to us yet!) He is only 14 weeks old and doesn't run away at all - so now I know what I can expect as he gets older!

I'd definitely say they hold something. :) I've been crying and they've come over to me, sensing something is wrong.

I also get greeted all the time by Ludwig when I walk in the room. He taught himself to stand on his hind legs just to greet me without holding onto anything.

Troy can now lie on his side on my chest so he can look at my face and kiss my chin! He never used to lie anyway other than in his normal position due to his head tilt so I'm hoping its down to the bond me and him have together :) my first piggy since being an adult :) the little face that makes every problem better!

I was thinking about this today, actually! I've recently started uni so I'm away during the week and come home at the weekend, and I have been delighted with the piggies' greetings!

I went outside as soon as I got home and I was met with a chorus of excited piggy squeals when I said hello! :)) The only other time I hear them so excited is dinner time! I used to wonder whether they just got excited to see me because they thought girly voice = food, but I'm now fairly certain that this isn't always the case (don't get me wrong, though, most of the time they do think FOOD :)) ). They will only get excited at dinner time, or if they are in the run and hear the sound of my sandals (not entirely sure why they associate that sound with food as, nine times out of ten, I'm only going into the garden, not bringing them food!).

If they hear me speak to them, they all run to the bars and climb up on their back legs and squeal x) They respond differently to different members of the family, too. They get the most excited when they hear me, but don't bother if they hear say, my brother, because he doesn't have much to do with them! Freddie always greets me enthusiastically, without fail.

As for trust...my piggies are trusting to the point of stupidity! They think that anyone or anything that approaches them must come bearing food so will immediately greet them with great enthusiasm. They must trust me and my Dad fully as they will quite happily settle down and fall asleep on our laps - often with their eyes closed, which I didn't realise was uncommon for a piggy!

it's true Julesie, when I am crying or upset they sense your emotions and act differently, I think it's the same with all animals. Our Little soul mates xx

My girls don't love me yet :( but then I've only had them just over a month! I can't remember what my others were like in terms of tameness but I hope these two will start to be a bit less scared around me!

They're getting better, though. If I sit on the floor they'll walk around me in circles and sometimes nibble my slippers!
