I'm getting quite sick of this part of the forum =[
I've just noticed after has a red circle sour near the opening of his bump, like it's on his left ball. It looks sore but doesn't hurt him when touched, I've booked another vets appointment for Friday. More money, more money =[

Not sure on what it could be but good luck at the vets, fingers crossed it's simple to sort out.

could you take a pic of the offending sore and then maybe we might have more of an idea what is wrong with the poor mite!

Well I'm not so worried about him, he's never had a problem in his life apart from having hair loss when I first bought him from P@H but with a good diet it soon ended and he gets bumble foot sometimes. He's really healthy, bouncy and a beast! He's obv depressed somewhat atm because of Leo and he didn't have this red thing yesterday or even this morning that I can remember. He won't eat his dry food but is quite happy to munch of fresh food. I've no hay atm, waiting for a delievery so I haven't tried him on that. Apart from either being louder then usual or quieter then usual he's ok. (e.g he's sqweeking more when he sees me and when he's alone he's quiet due to no Leo)

It looks self-inflicted (although there is a possibility that it could be ringworm.)
Is there anything similar elsewhere?

Nothing anywhere else that I can see, and if it's ring worm does that mean I can catch it?

I was wondering whether he got it from the newpaper? I've been using that mainly whilst I wait for my hay delievery

Sorry, I can't help you with that, but I hope that a trip to the vet brings more success.

Hopefully if I get a decent vet at my new vets on Friday. I think when I go in and I'm going to say something like, Right, I don't trust vets at all, last week I lost my most loved guinea pig because a vet was too pig brained to tell me he didn't know anything about guinea pigs so instead he made some crap up. I'm not going to paint you with the same brush but you better work damn hard for the money I'm going to hand over because you're messing with my family... understand? *BIG SMILE*

Good for you.
Unlikely that ringworm came from newspaper.
Yes, there is risk you could catch ringworm, however, as the saying goes, you could walk under a bus tomorrow.
Some people go to extraordinary trouble when they have a pig with ringworm. No need to get biological/germ warfare clothing!
Wash your hands, that is about it.

Lol, I'm pretty bad at hygiene, apart from the whole washing your hands after the toilet and washing my clothes and body (and the pig) but as gross as it might sound to people, i could eat a piece of apple my guinea pig has bitten. I know the gross things they do but it just doesn't occur to me to be over hygenic with them (y) I'll wash my hands more tho because of the ring worm, it would mean me having a trip to the doctors too lol

At long last, someone else with a sensible approach to hygiene!!
I agree with your comments. A little bit of dirt never did anyone any harm.
I can imagine there are some people who will take exception to that comment!

Well I've never been sick from an animal so far =] I mean I wouldn't go as far as picking something out their cage to bite, but sometimes I feed them fruit/veg from hand, or they do enjoy eating the apple after I've had my turn with it haha our immune systems can cope with many things =] I have changed one habit tho, I used to be really bad for the chicken rules... My sister yelled at me once for cooking a chicken from frozen... I thought it was normal lol, actually i've only started being sick from chicken since following the rules, which is really weird.

I took him to the vets last Friday, he wouldn't give medicine because he was unsure on what they were allegic too altho he knew it was almost everything. He checked the sore out and said it seemed as if Africa had been licking himself a bit too much so he put it down to self harm. It looks better but theres no hair there anymore, I'm to wash it 1-2 a day with warm salt water. I mentioned him not eating and he said have you tried other things, I mentioned fresh food, he said just feed him that he'll come around and I asked what I could possibly feed him to get him his Vit C as thats very important, he basically shrugged his shoulders. I went to Morrisons and bought carrots, apples, oranges, pepper, celery & broccoli. Could someone give me more help on what he NEEDs if he doesn't eat the dry food? He isn't touching his hay either as far as I can tell and sometimes eats the dry food but mainly tips it up so I never really know.

The vets I've just changed too apprantly specialise. I think I may ask them next time I book an appointment for a vet who knows about guinea pigs.
