I'm going to be adopting two guinea pigs early next week from pets at home adoption if they both get a final clean bill of health from the vet. They've been undergoing treatment for ringworm for the past few weeks and they've been given the all clear, the vet just wants to make absolute sure. Is there anything I'd need to do once I get them? Would they be able to be introduced after the settling period or would they need to be quarantined? I've never dealt with a piggy who's had ringworm before so I'm not sure what to expect.

Then I would still do the two weeks quarantine just to be certain there aren’t any issues, then put them next to your other piggies in a separate cage for a little while, and then do the bonding (neutral territory etc)

@Piggies&buns offers bang on advice above! Yes would follow quarantine period just to make sure before bonding

Thank you, I just didn't know if adoption piggies were done differently to store bought. Are pigs who's had ringworm before more likely to get it again?

Hi @Gemma1286 I'm watching your thread with interest as we adopted a new piggy with ringworm 10 days ago and she's has daily treatment the vet prescribed and it looks to have cleared up and she has another vet check tomorrow. I will be definitely be asking my vet all these same questions!
Have you registered your new piggy with a vet? A vet check-up is a good idea for a new piggy anyway during their quarantine period before introducing them to the others, just to make sure!

Hope you do get the new girls home soon.

I highly recommend the forum bonding guides- they are excellent.
Thank you, the lady I spoke to yesterday said they were mine so it's just a case of waiting. I've been reading these guides and I agree they are excellent, hopefully the trio/pair will bond well in a few weeks.

Hi! I've been a silent reader of your thread, your piggy is so gorgeous! No, I haven't registered the new pair yet as I'm not their owner until Tuesday at the earliest and may be changing one of the names, but want to see them first before deciding. Will be looking out to see what your vet says on this.

That's whats so nice about the forum, our piggies can be recovering ringworm buddies online :)
I just saw your other post about ringworm and noticed you've asked the same question lol. Will finish reading it all. Haha now that's cute! I'm sure they'd be the best of online buddies :luv:
