Poor piggies are itching like mad so after baths with piggy insecticide shampoo, and piggy insectide powder not working, ive just dabbed some invermectin solution on their necks. Hopefully this will clear up those damn mites!

I only did a deep clean of the piggies cage on saturday, so I'm not really wanting to do it again, and as mites can only live on a living host, and not on bedding etc, do I have to deep clean the piggies cage before putting them back, or can I just change their puppy pads and have done with it at that?

I would change it again but that's just me! You will need to repeat the ivermectin to kill hatching eggs in a couple of weeks as eggs can't be killed by the way. Sorry if you know this already!

Sounds like you have got it all in hand, just treat them another two times seven days apart. Pesky little blighters aren't they, hard to treat.

Thanks for your replies. I didnt know that Squeaky, thanks for letting me know!

So I treated them both last night around tea time, and Oscar is still itching! Not as bad, but still itching. Elliot seems ok, still itching a tiny bit. How long does it take to calm the mites down?

I will do it again in two weeks, and hope for the best :)
