Hey everyone, hope all is well. So this morning I had to pay Judith at first pets in Newcastle a visit as Gremlin had a massive lump on his side, it's something I noticed ages ago and was very small and was advised by local vets to keep an eye on it. In the space of two days it had probably grown tenfold and looked a bit nasty. It was just a cyst and emptied out easily with not too much drama. Obviously I should look out for infection and regrowth but wondering if there is anything else I should be doing? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Keep an eye out for sudden loss of appetite - it can be a sign of an infection gone into the body.
Step in with syringe feeding asap and see your vet promptly. Always have some recovery formula and and probiotics at home in case of an emergency. it is unlikely to happen as you are seeing a very competent vet.

I have fibreplex and pro-c in ready for any emergencies. Should I be cleaning or anything? Or just watching?

Just watch for signs of inflammation (redness/swelling), but leave be to settle down as much as possible unless there is is a lot of much around it. Then remove it gently with some saline solution (1 teaspoon of salt mixed into 1/2 pint/250 ml of boiled, cooled water); this is mildly antiseptic. it is hopefully not going to be necessary.

It looks fine at the moment and he's still eating loads so hopefully will be fine. Thanks for the advice, also I highly recommend Judith at first pets, she is brilliant.

Here’s hoping Gremlin continues to do well and that you won’t have to step in. Always best to be prepared, though. Some cysts can be quite spectacular.

Thanks, I couldn't quite believe how much it grew in 36 hours, it was spectacular, just pleased that he's being his normal self at the moment.
