Hi I recently adopted a guinea pig last week the rescue centre said that they do not know her age or her birthday so I thought you could tell me what her age is roughly based on his weight . His weight is 1KG 220 grams I do have pictures of him but don't know how to upload them
Thanks for the help

It's very, very hard to tell but from what I've noticed with all of my piggies they are at least a year old to hit in the 1ks of weight.

Again this is only from what I've noticed from my own piggies.

Their weight will just show if they are fully grown which she is if she's 1.2kg
I think the nails give a clue but it's hard to tell.

It is very difficult to age fully mature piggies, even for experienced piggy people!

With greater age, the nails tend to thicken and curl up more; but that is very individual - some keep straight and slim nails until they are very elderly and others have thickened nails from their second year onwards and curly nails from very young.

Its hard to tell, you are probably best just enjoying your piggy and take each day as it comes.

One of my boars is 6 and his nails are thick and straight whereas my younger boar is 3 and has thick more curled nails so in my limited experience they differ just as much as we do! lol

You're right I just wanted to have a approximate age for him and his birthday will be on the day I got him so I could celebrate his birthday I guess I still can but I just won't know what his age is it doesn't really matter :-) :-)
