Hello! My piggies are 1.5 years old and are sisters! They’ve been together forever and have alway got on well. Now a few weeks ago they started chasing each other, chattering teeth, squaring up to each other, spraying each other. No actual bites as yet but looks worrying! I have them a bit of time apart, half an hour then put them in their outside play pen and they were fine. The they started again! I get a new cage tomorrow a 5ft outside hutch with attached 5ft fun, I’m hoping that keeps them happy!

Hi and welcome!

Please check whether one of them is coming into season or whether this is regular behaviour. It is a bit early but not unknown that ovarian cysts can start off, causing very hormonal/aggressive behaviour.

Sows generally don't have fights with bites. Their version of a deep intentional full-on bite is a mouth full of fur. In my own experience sisters can have phases especially as late teenagers/young adults of some serious scrapping right up to the line very rarely will they go beyond.

Here is more information on sow behaviour: Sows: Behaviour and female health problems (including ovarian cysts)
