Dear all,
I am mother to two beatiful fur babies named Wishkey(sow) and Brownie(Boar). The two of them were welcomed at my home as males but they were wrongly sexed, and I ended up having the two extremely bonded and head over heels cavy couple. Whiskey is an expecting mother now and is due to deliver very soon. Although i have seperated the two in same enclosure using a divider, both of dem seem extremly agitated, panicky and keep looking at ways, for being togther by creating a fuss. Brownie now remains depressed too. I know I have to seperate them for safe delivery and rearing of the pups..yet seperatimg the two and dere sad state and stress by sepration causes me a deep seated guilt. Kindly advice for the given situtation or anytyn else i can do for them...!

Welcome to the forum x
Your piggies are beautiful and obviously very happy together.
You have a few Long term options:
The first is to get Brownie neutered, that would mean after 6 weeks he would be able to live with any lady piggies with no babies as a consequence.
The second is to wait and see if you get a Male baby which you could keep with Brownie as a companion. Any female babies would be able to go with Whishkey.
Obviously, both have good points and bad, either way you can no longer house your female and un-neutered Male together again, sorry but you will be overrun with baby piggies x

You should keep them separated, but I would put up a piece of coroplast as a wall divider and see if it stops them from being agitated. Obviously seeing eachother is making it stressful for them.

I have tried putting complete partition but dat made both of them go crazy. Brownie is not at all vocal boy, but seperatimg dem completely made him a squeaky boy and wishkey had gone om full blown squeak mode. Letting them see each other have calmed them to a bit but still there behaviour is worrisome.

I am considering the option for spaying brownie to let him be back with his lady love. But I am already in love with my coming grandchildren and wish to keep dem. However can i sex the babies and keep dem with dere respective parents in a divided cage..?

aww bless them... they love each other! when are the babies due?

Shez due in a week or so. They are deeply bonded soulmates... brownie has been very caring and loving pal to wishkey througout. He nudges, grooms and even waits to eat his portion untill wishkey is done eating. Seeing dem in such agitated state has sunken my heart ...its a very low and unwanted situation for me.

Take heart - they will settle, and even more so once they both have a companion (hopefully you will end up with a baby boar who can go with Brownie once he is weaned).
You could also consider castration for Brownie so they can live together again after his 6 week wait.
Do you have a plan for what you want to do with the babies yet?

So sorry for them and you x It’s a horrible situation, take some time to work out what’s best. Your Male can live with one son. Your female can live with all her daughters. Or you could get your Brownie neutered so they can be back together but that still leaves you with babies which will probably have to be separated, depending on what you get sex wise x
Your little love birds will settle down and get used to living side by side for the time being until you reach a point you can make an informed decision. Looking forward to seeing photos of the babies x

Wishkey is gonna have two kiddos. I am praying hard for dem to be sows, so that i can neuter brownie(too scared to do so) and have a happy family of four. I love all of dem to death and kinda feel connected to the unborn kids too howvever i dont have a back up plan if they are boars...!
