I woke up this morning and checked on the piglets and everything was fine.

I went outside for a bit, as it's sunny for once. I was outside for about 20 minutes and when I came back in, I saw Agnes eating out her bowl and could see that their was red on one of her claws.
As I got closer, I could see it was blood and one of her nails has broken off completely and had been bleeding - because I was outside, it looks like it has stopped but I am just worried about any infections? Or anything I can do now, or should I just leave her?

Never had this happen so just worried really.

Thanks for any help :)

She could have just caught her nail on something.

You can gently wash her foot with a mild antiseptic saline solution (one pint of boiled, cooled water in which you stir in one teaspoon of salt). Keep an eye on it for the next few days for any signs of reddening or swelling, but you should be hopefully OK.

Thank you. I think I'm going to book them in with the vets, because Gertrude's claws are getting quite long and I'm afraid to cut them myself!
