Jenwah
Junior Guinea Pig
Hey everyone!
I have been posting lately for different advice on several things regarding my piggies, Agnes in particular.
I mentioned she was losing weight, had no teeth, wasn't eating as much and seemed to have no energy. I had taken to a vet first who was a horrible experience, won't go into detail again but, that's in the past now.
Recently, I had taken her to another vet. He was so nice, proper caring and told me that he feels no matter how much a vet will do for Agnes, he thinks it would make her worse and my nursing is actually what's keeping her going. He did some tests on her, and at one point I was really scared she had mange mites, he's cleared this up and she hasn't!
Since then, I've been giving Agnes critical care, syringe feeding her. And I have been given her fruit and veg as normal. She still struggles eating veg and fruit even in their tiniest forms because she has no teeth. So I made my own concoction.
I blended:
- half a carrot
- slice of red bell pepper
- big bunch of parsley
with a little bit of water. It's smells nice and looks like baby food. Since Sunday, I've been syringe feeding her, but now - Thursday, she's actually running up to the food to eat it by herself. She's sat next to me as I type, eating away this mushy food on her own little plate. It's the most she has eaten in a long while.
I still give her critical care and she seems to love this mush.
I'm hoping she will have put more weight in in the next weeks. And going to keep doing this until she does. I won't give up on Agnes. And definitely will not be thinking about euthanasia any time soon as what the first vet suggested!
COME ON AGNES!
:-)
