alfalfa hay

I think I read somewhere that you weren't supposed to feed piggies this all the time but I forget why could someone refresh my memory? we were giving our piggies fresh alfalfa from our yard this summer and they loved it

You shouldnt give too much as it contains a lot of calcium which can cause bladder stones

What about like a timothy Alfalfa mixed bale or like Alfalfa Meadow grass? I buy my hay from farmers mostly

Alfalfa has a high protein content, but it is also packed with vitamins and minerals. I would think if it was mixed with timothy it would be ok, but I'm no expert so don't take my word for it. Just monitor your pigs and make sure they are still peeing and pooing normally etc. Maybe wait to get some better advise

Does it state how much of the contain of the hay is alfalfa and how much is either meadow or timothy?
