hi there ive just purchased some alfalfa hay due to purchasing a piggie that was already pregnant when we got her what is alfalfa hay ment to feel like i know this may sound odd but the hay feels very coarse and feels more like straw than hay any idea on why this product feels so coarse

Alfalfa hay is much more coarse than normal hay so it will feel more straw like. So it sounds like the stuff you bought is fine.

Alfalfa or lucerne is actually a legume and not a grass. Just offer it along with your normal hay.
