I've been wanting to change to a different hay for a while and I keep hearing alfalfa king timothy hay is good and I've had it before and my girls seemed to like it but the only thing is the bag I had was quite dusty and after a while of using it one of my girls Lily got breathing problems luckily she survived but it was touch and go for a while, she has unfortunately passed a little while ago for different reasons, but because of this incident I'm a little afraid to go back to it though I'm not completely sure if the dust from the bag was the cause (pretty sure though). I was wondering has anyone else had this problem or was I just really unlucky?

I haven't heard of it to be honest. I just use Timothy hay or occasionally verde hay personally. I'm sure someone who knows a little more about alfalfa King Timothy hay is around somewhere but I've only ever heard of alfalfa and Timothy hay as separate types...

Any bagged hay can be a bit dusty when you get to the bottom of the bag. If I have any hay that looks dusty, I put it in a colander to shake out the dusty buts before giving it to my Guinea Pigs.

It's the main feeding hay I use as it's like a cheaper version of Oxbow.

It is pretty dusty, I guess it's partly due to it getting shaken about in transit from the US.

I give it a good shake like PiggyOwner suggests before putting it in their cage.

Thanks I think I'm going to go for it. It always looks better quality than the stuff I use now so I think it's worth it

i've had bags that were dusty and ones that wern't
pot luck as to which one you walk out with on that one
what i do is feel the bottom of the bag before i get it so i can feel how much dust there is in there as it feels different to the hay its self
maybe its a blind thing to do things like that but i've learned from experience to do this with any bag of hay or other grasses that this is a good thing to do.
the pets at home wild mountain hay is good and not too bad dust wise so maybe give that a go
