Alfalfa

Is it true that young guinea pigs need to eat alfalfa hay rather than another such as timothy? I know my rabbit ate alfalfa hay until 6 months to do with proper growth, but does the same thing ring true for guinea pigs? Vixen is about 1-2 months old. Thanks!

They can do but personally I never bothered and just gave mine regular hay. The only need a bit of the extra calcium. Others may have different opinions.

Ah good stuff. It would be trickier to provide just her with alfalfa when Spike, who lives with her, loves alfalfa I think I'll just give her a little when she's sitting on my lap. Thanks!
