Allergic reaction to guinea pig

Hi, I've just joined the forum because I have an unusual problem with one of my piggies.

I've kept guinea pigs for years and currently have three, one on his own and two together. For some reason I come out in hives when I handle one of the pair of pigs. This one has made me itch since I got him, but had a really bad reaction yesterday.

Anybody know why as it's so bad I may have to give those 2 up.

I'm worse with longer haired gps. Have you tried an antihistamine? I find benadryl best.

My daughter's texel & coronet make me sneeze & wheezy but I just use antihistamins.
The other 6 I've fine with

I take an antihistamine most days - i think its the hay rather than the pigs
