Hi anyone else out their totally allergic to the furry friends? I am, which isn't good news since I'm also asthmatic xx0

Usually when I and my son have been cuddling them (and the love to cuddle up right under my chin :smitten:) we come out in red itchy blotches (very pretty x8). The only thing I've found that takes the itch away is Liz Earl's Skin Tonic. It's lovely - full of natural ingredients like cucumber and chamomile - but only available mail order (her own website or QVC).

Fortunately they only make me mildly wheezy. I just make sure I wear a mask when I'm cleaning out there run.

Anyone else have any top tips? I'd love to hear them.

i am not sure but can't you go to the doctors and get injections to stop you being allergic to them? i know you can for dogs, horses, cats and bees so why not guinea pigs? are you sure it is the guinea pigs or is it the bedding or something else? i would see your doctor and find out for sure and see if there is treatment out there for you both. welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: sending hugs and the girls send :-* :-* :-*

Tried antihistamine, tablets and cream, and it didn't make a blind bit of difference :-\ . The weird thing is, it doesn't matter how long I spend with them I don't start to sneeze until I've put them back in the run. It was the same when I had my horse. It could be a five minute cuddle in the field or a whole day mucking out, grooming, riding - it wasn't till I got back in the car that the sneezing started 98)

Never mind, I wouldn't be without them :). What's a few blotches - I just make sure I don't have to appear in public afterwards ;D ;D

I am allergic to mine too.

I just keep them living outside as much as possible, and try not to handle them. I wash my hands whenever I touch them or their bedding.

I have thought long and hard about rehoming them but have not done so yet. I may have to in future.

Both myself and my partner are allergic to animals and we are both asthmatic, but we suffer as we say a house is not a home without a pet or 10, Kyles asthma was had him in hospital in the past but he now takes 200mg of the purple inhaler and also takes antihistamine's

my mum gets that, whenever she cuddles mine she gets red blotchy patches, shes not bothered by it, we got dogs, horse and guineas...yoiu get use to it after a time.
