Had a strange day yesterday as the window cleaner came round and he told me that he is allergic to piggies and they make all his eyes swell up and go red, then 10 minutes later o/h's sister came round to see the piggies and told me that she was allergic but had to see them.Within ten minutes of holding them she came out in red itchy lump on her arms face and neck and her ear became really swollen, she eventually had to leave as she was having trouble breathing and when she gets really bad her skin peels off:{. She used to have 2 rescue piggies but refused to give them up even with her condition but decided to stop when they passes away. The good news is that she was so happy that i had got my piggies and looking after them well that she's got us a big hutch so we dont have to buy one, the other half is on his way to fetch it,so it looks like today will be the day that i let freddy and star stay together as there still getting on really well:)).Anyway back to the subject lol i was just wondering if allergies to piggies are commen as i met 2 people within ten minutes,is anyone on here allergic or know anybody?

My mother in law is alergic to my piggies. It generally starts with sore eyes and then her face puffs up. She absolutely loves my piggies and would like to hold them but can't. Whenever we are away she will drive 1h15 to feed them and sit next to them talking for an hour or so. And when Maya needed syringe feeding she put gloves on and learned how to do it. She's alergic to most animals and not really an animal person so it's not too bad but my piggies have wrapped her around their little paws and it's such a shame she can't hold them.

LY - I have sent you a text this morning...........

I am allergic to long haireds particularly shelties and some aby pigs. Sokel has to have the long haireds for me hee hee.

Also angora rabbits as I have just found out........................ argh.

Piriton or even doc prescribed does not help so I just have to not touch them.

I am not allergic to the pigs or rabbits but do have an allergy to pet dander. I just get a swollen sinus in the nose only on the left hand side though! I am ok with them on Hay or megazorb though its just on fleece that I suffer as it must release into the air quicker. :)

I am slightly allergic to Fifi who is a peruvian, I sneeze and get itchy watery eyes when I hold her but I put up with it :))

It must be horrid to have a severe allergy, but if it were necessary, a doctor would prescribe prescription strength anti histimines.

I use Telfast when it gets too bad. I think you can only get it from the Doctor and it is none drowsy. Can't afford to be drowsy with animals and children...lol :)

she wants to come round again in a few days to see them in there new hutch but wont be able to resist playing with them so she's going to bring some gloves lol

I get a bit of an itchy rash if I put a piggy anywhere near my face and also if they scratch me it comes up in a white lump but it soon goes away.:)

My younger brotheris allergic to my piggies! HE isn;t as bad assome ofyou but his eyes swell up and start watering!

HE uses piriton from the local pharmacy and it goes down after a few minutes!
