Allergies to hay

This may sound strange. But, I’m not personally allergic to hay but I talk to a lot of people that are and I’m looking for some info to give them. I also see so many people on craigslist getting rid of their pets cause of an allergy. And I want to be able to tell them they don’t need to get rid of it.

What are some of the options for people when it comes to allergies to hay? I’ve read you can switch their hay. Can it be switched to any other kind of hay (other than alfalfa) or only certain kinds?

Any information would be helpful.

My boyfriend is allergic to Timothy hay and I switched to INGs hay. Alfalfa hay is for babies and nursing mothers so I would not recommend that for other piggies. You can get medow hay too. Sometimes antihistimines help. I am allergic to my piggies and take them to help manage the symptoms.
