I've recently developed an allergy to my guineas that only occurs on my neck. In that I mean if they touch my neck or if i touch them and then touch my neck, it becomes red and very itchy. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I'm going to keep my guinea regardless, its just made cuddling them really tricky!
 
How peculiar I've never heard of that happening. I am fortunately only allergic to Marmite which I adore. Nice to see you on, you're not around much these days!

Did you find a companion for your bereaved boar?
 
My daughter has the very same problem and it has only been happening for the last couple of weeks. Bumble loves snuggling around her neck and so does Rimmer now she wears a long sleeved top as her arms itch too and will only put them on her knee now. I am baffled by it as we have had the currant piggies 10 months. Calandula cream soothed the itching maybe you could try it see if it works for you.
 
Thanks for the advice pumpkinpiggie about the cream. I've kept guineas since I was a kid (now 25) and its just suddenly started happening.

I'm sad to say that my boar died yesterday, he had a bladder stone in a place where it was impossible to remove. They tried to flush it into an easier place but it wouldnt move so I decided to let them put him to sleep under anaesetic. He was in so much pain it wasnt fair to keep him alive
 
:) I also get an allergic reaction to my guineas, but only if they come in contact to the inside of my wrists so I wear long sleeves when cuddling :)

i just end up sneezing my head off with the hay etc as i get hay fever all year round

I get allergies too, i find when we go away that when we come back i itch like crazy, but i put up with it and use my eczema cream and within a few days my skin adapts again. Just as well or i'd have a red itchy neck all the time cause that's where Duke runs up to :-*
