Junior Guinea Pig
I almost put "rescued" in the title.
In P@H today and a lady and her young son were bringing in 2 pigs to the adoption center. I hovered around a little because I wanted to see the piggy
I heard the store worker say that "if she is pregnant then they can't take her in." Inside the carry case was a little baby and a big girl. The worker took her to the in store vet who confirmed that she was pregnant. I talked to the lady a little bit and she bought 2 guinea pigs for her son after they lost their family dog, but it turned out to be a boar and sow pig instead. They were going to keep the boar but couldn't keep the sow and this baby pig. She said she already had a cat and some lizards so no more.
I told her that if P@H couldn't take them I suggested asking Cavy Corner or a rescue for help. I don't think she had ever even heard of a rescue let alone consider one! She had to take the pregnant piggy home with her but left the baby. No doubt she will be going back when mom has had the little ones.
If only I lived on my own! I would of taken them in a heartbeat no questions asked....The lady said she was an animal lover but obviously not a responsible one! At one point, I think she was joking, but said she would just let them go free! How awful. I hope she doesn't keep any Snakes...
I had to have a little cry in the car afterwards because momma pig looked like my boy Rory who died this October while I was away in America. You might remember that last year I rescued two baby pigs Kenny & Butters (or Twix & Mars) from careless breeding. They were so wonderful to rescue and lovely little boys.
Curse not living in my own home!!! I guess you can't help every piggy...
