Just a quick update.

I've applied to adopt two boars from a local rescue centre (fabulous place)!

There's one Himalayan and one tri-coloured (black, white and ginger).

They're absolutely gorgeous!

Both neutered too, am I right in thinking that in time I couldn't get some females because two neutered males would still fall out over the sows...?

You can have one neutered boar living with sows or you can have two boars living together (provided they are character compatible). In the second case, it doesn't matter whether they are neutered or not; key to any piggy bond is whether their personalities suit and they like each other. Are the two boys already bonded or have you just chosen them for their looks?

I assume if it’s a good rescue that they have already ensured the boys are compatible?

Ooh so exciting! How old are they? :D I love Himalayans they're so cute! None of my babies are that fancy though :))

Have they been friends long? I've always been jealous of seeing snuggly boars together, none of my piggies have ever cuddled up together!

You're right in thinking that they can't live with females because they'd fight, if they're a bonded pair I'd just leave them as they are personally. But at least you know that if anything happens like a fall out or anything that they're already neutered and could have wives :)

They're already bonded, have been together for two years. I haven't just gone for them for their looks. What a peculiar thing to ask on a forum that is full of posts about how gorgeous their pets are....

It's all cuteness and "ooooh aaaaah" til you realise one's only doing it so he can steal the other's food :cool:

Good luck with the new piggies, @Louise3pigs I echo the others, are they a bonded pair? Do they like to steal each other's food?

Hi! Please do not mistake me; there are rescues and rescues (considering that anybody can call themselves a rescue in this country), and not all of them necessarily put the stability of a bond before everything when they offer guinea pigs for adoption.

What I have tried is to assure that the boars are stably bonded as a protection for you so you do not end up in hot water as other members have before by adopting a not well bonded pair. ;)
 
So counting down 2 weeks til piggy pics! :drool: It's lovely that they've been friends for so long, it means you don't have to worry about hormonal boys! :))

It's probably a bit sad on my part but I'm pretty excited for you! It's always wonderful when someone becomes a piggy parent for the first time :)

It’s not at all sad @Cavy Kung-Fu - I think it’s sadder if we can’t be excited for each other and look forward to news and pics.

I couldn't agree more! I'm just sitting in the garden watching them flop down for a doze and all I want to do is pick them up and kiss them.

I won't obviously hahaha x
