So yesterday I got a message from a breeder asking if I wanted some female guinea pigs as she wanted different breeds so was getting rid of them. It broke my heart the way she spoke about them like they were objects, I wanted to send her a horrible message but I nicely asked her how many she was getting rid of and she said 10! and I could take as many as I wanted...
I wanted to take them all but I knew I didn't really have enough space. So I thought I'd take half and if they were kept in awful conditions I'd have to take them all.

So today I went to see them, I couldn't find her house so we met outside a shop. She had 10 tiny piggies in a storage box. They were so small, some of them were only probably about 2 months old. She was telling me how she'd tried to breed skinny pigs but ended up with a load of skinny gene babies instead so now she was giving up and getting silkies and Peruvians instead. I was heartbroken looking at these tiny piggies and imagining what awful conditions they could possibly be living in. So I said Id take them all! She then asked me if I'd take more in the future! (I guess after she's gotten bored of her peruvians/silkies)

I was so furious! How could anyone do that to such beautiful little piggies! She spoke about them like they were objects! :cen:

Anyway, I now have 10 possibly pregnant piggies! I have checked them all and pretty sure they are all girls, and they all look healthy other than a couple looking heavily pregnant! I also adopted 3 girls last week and 2 girls yesterday. So now I have 23 guinea pigs and possibly a lot more depending on how many of the newbies are pregnant!

Some photos of the newbies, any name ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

Oh my goodness - that's a lot of piggies! She sounds like a not very nice person so well done for rescuing them!

Well done for rescuing them. That is a lot of piggies are you alright coping with so many? Is there no one you can report this woman too? She sounds horrible and goodness knows what conditions she is keeping her animals in.

Oh my god! How was the breeder able to contact you? I'd be looking to remove any contact details if breeders are accessing you as a means to offload their unprofitable goods otherwise you will soon end up overwhelmed. I would suggest rescues but all the good ones don't take from breeders unless they are agreeing to stop breeding completely.

Perhaps it's time to look for rescues yourself though if you are potentially ending up with babies that you might not be able to keep

I will admit I did put an ad on preloved saying I'd take in a couple of female piggies, as sadly we'd lost a few in the last couple of months. I wanted to help people who needed to rehome their piggies, or maybe had a piggie who'd lost their partner. I was not expecting messages from breeders who wanted me to take all their piggies!
I may have to look into a rescue depending on how many babies I end up with, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see

Yes, I'm alright at the moment, slightly squishy in the Pig house but it should be OK. If they do end up having a load of babies I will most likely have to look into a rescue as I can't have many more.
I will report her to someone (not sure who) but I'm gonna wait maybe a week so it's not too obvious it was me.

I love the white a sandy abysinian in the middle. They are all nice though. Well done for rescuing them

Make another account and wait for her to offload again, and then report

Will try to get some pictures of the others in a bit

So I've finally named them all :D

The ginger/sandy coloured abyssinian is Daphne.
The brown abyssinian is Dot / Dotty.
The grey abyssinian is Disney.
The tri-coloured one is Rain
The white fluffy ones are Paisley & Petal.
The black one with ginger stripes is Tigerlily.
The black one with a little bit of ginger is Tansy.
The two jet black ones are Priya & Pip.

It was so good of you to help all those poor piggies. They are adorable, especially the silver agouti abby, all my favourite pigs rolled into one! If you find you have too many and are finding it difficult to cope, please ask for help to rehome some, don't struggle on. I find my six a handful and couldn't cope with more.

That's a lot of guinea pigs... its great you got them away from the breeder and I'm sure you had good intentions but dont you think she'll just buy and breed some more easy to sell pigs now? And how will you manage the quarantine and afford vet checks for all these little pigs? My own "breeders reject" pig Blodwen we were tricked into rehoming thinking she was an unwanted pet needed £350 of vet care... just for 1 piggy! I would definitely report this to the RSPCA before she starts again... good luck with them all anyway!

Thank you. I love that little abby too
I think I'm alright at the moment, may have to look into a rescue if they end up having alot of babies though!

Yes she is, the reason she wanted me to take them was so she could start breeding silkies and Peruvians instead. :cen:
They all look healthy so far, I've checked them all over and they all are eating, drinking and pooing fine. So hopefully they are all OK.
I am going to report her, but I'm going to wait a week first so it's not too obvious it was me.

I admire you and I would have done the same. Great names and keep us updated pls. x

Aw, well done you for giving them all a lovely home, that woman needs stringing up! How could she have no conscience, these people shouldn’t be allowed near animals x

Wow you are amazing taking all of those.

I have to say i am in love with little Dotty. She is just so adorable. I just need to find my pig-napping gear and I will be round

Well done for taking them all in! Can't believe people can be so heartless! They are beautiful piggies and it's good to know they now have a loving home 😍

Is there a difference between Petal and Paisley? They are such adorable white snowy floofy fluff balls! Well done in rescuing them from such a horrible person!
