Alternative Drinks

I know that fresh water is the staple drink, but I'm wondering whether anyone's pets have a liking for something else. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other drink that could even be considered suitable.

My profile piggy has bladder stone problems, and he's a terrible drinker.

Everyone has said he needs to drink more, but it's quite time consuming syringing him water.

The CCT recommended what we call his "juice". It's 100% fresh orange juice (Innocent or similar) really really really diluted in water. He has one of the little mouse bottles full of water with maybe 5ml of orange in it. He'll drink about 20ml of that, sometimes 45ml or more.

The only problem is it needs changing twice a day as it's fresh orange and so goes off really quickly.

Saying that though, if a pig drinks water without a problem, then that's all they need. They're not really built for drinking anything else.

I'd think liquidizing a cucumber would be the best bet, when l have a porly pig l syringe feed

Why do you want an alternative to water?

@gizzy I don't want one urgently, it's just a general question. It might be useful to know one day. You won't believe how often our water is off.

It might be worth buying some bottled water, so you have some at hand when your water goes off.

None of my guinea pigs have water straight from the tap, as the water hardness is too high here, and it contributes to bladder problems

I like the cucumber idea - would work well in our hot summers.
