I have been putting pee pads under the fleece blankets in my guinea pigs' cages, but my boy Nickel has been chewing on it for a while now (he was actually chewing on it while I was typing this out). I've been trying to deal with it by putting bowls on the corners and saying "no" whenever he chews on the pee pad, but he won't budge. Now that I got another guinea pig, Penny, tonight I found her chewing on her own pee pad under the fleece blanket. I'm tired of dealing with the pee pad situation, so is there an alternative? Can I just use a second fleece blanket under the current or paper bedding? Just something to replace the pee pad!

I use washable incontinence pads for my pigs. These are the ones I use and find really good. There are others though :)

One of my female pigs always chewed the edges of the puppy pads and I was worried about her ingesting the plastic so I made the switch

I'm aware it's difficult to find this in the UK but if you are in the US or another area that may carry them, I stocked up on uhaul pads. Not certain of your location but there has been other discussion there in the UK as they are simple and about $8. I don't think anyone has found them there though unless off ebay in Europe.

Mattress pads have been great to use too. I've begun sewing them all inside of the fleece as well and it's much, much easier to clean and change.

I actually found a really cool shop on Etsy that sells cage liners. the shop name is SprinklePiggy and they have fleece and uhaul pads sewn together. They come in a bunch of sizes and you could probably custom order a few. They're really cheap as well!

I use fleece cage liners which are made of 3 layers. Fleece, mattress ptotectors and fleece all sewn together, they are great and havent been chewed at all.

I also have smaller mats made the same way but with zorb instead of mattress protectors which is more expensive but very absorbent.
