I know I have to rehome a few of these babies when they are old enough but I'm getting sick of being asked by people if they can have one! No, firstly you have to have 2! and secondly I want to make sure they go to decent homes. Am I being fussy or should I just let them go?

I think you should let them al go and let me have them all :)) They will be loved endlessly, fed and looked after well, cuddled fussed over and spoilt rotten. x

In all seriousness, I think it may be better to rehome through a rescue. Not because you arnt going to look at who they are going too, but people are much more intimidated by having to sign an agreement with a rescue saying they will look after the piggies. Are you intending to do home checks? Where you go to see if the person having them has the right cage etc. Checking they have the knowledge necessary to look ofter the piggies? Also, If your friends take some of these babies, what happens if they stop caring for the babies? Are you going to be the one to argue and make them hand the piggies back?

Please dont take it the wrong way, I truely believe you are trying to do the best thing by the piggies, but just a few things to think about.

I totally agree, if you do rehome them then do it through a rescue, this will ensure they go to a good home and there will be no sexing misshaps etc. I know you'll do the best.

I think your right tbh. I would hate for these little ones to not be cared for properly :( There's a couple of rescues near me isn't there? Bramleycavies and millhaven?

Yeh i agree with you, I would neve rehome a piggie especially not a baby by its self guinea pigs should always be with 1 or more piggies, because lets face it us humans wouldnt like being alone and i dont think anybody would really! maybe take them to a resuce?

If you give the rescues round you a ring, they may agree to sort something out where you could foster the babies untill they are found homes, but the rescue would do home checks. :)

Its something to think about. 2 boys have a good home waiting, I'm just holding on to them till I'm 100% happy they can manage without mum. That leaves one boy, I was hoping to pair him off with luigi though I know life is not tthat simple! I can keep a couple of girls, just not sure OH would agree to me having 8 little girls running about:)) I'm defo keeping a good few of them!

Until I climbed through a window...:))

Nope you're being very sensible they're your babies by extension too, years ago when we had a piggy from a pet shop and she gave us the surprise of babies my mum gave them to my cousins so we were able to go round and keep an eye on them and have the odd cuddle.

If you didn't go down the rescue route and chose to give them homes to other people the one thing you can really do is make it abundantly clear that no matter what you'd have them back in a heart beat.

Its great that your hoping to pair him, If you put him in when he leaves mum at 3 weeks they will have a good chance of getting on because they wont hit the hormones at the same time. Hes very unlikely to reject a baby, the trouble will probably only come when baby hits the hormones. This will be less of a problem as lugi is older. :)

Of course you are not being too fussy! These are your precious babies and you have to ensure people are not just showing interest as they think they are cute and will soon get bored of them. You are in a very difficult situation. I would be so worried and end up keeping them all!

Luigi has been lonely for a while now :( all attempts at pairing him with an older male have not worked so I'm hoping he will be ok with a baby. I've spotted a few baby and older male pig pairs on here before. So that leaves 6 little girls. Which I'm hoping OH will not have a problem with me keeping! It just means a little C&C building to make a bigger area for when they have grown:)) Luigi and little grey boy can live in the big cage together. I have luigi on carefrsh atm because he gets quite smelly on fleece, leaving his "boar glue" all over:)>>>

but are nt the rescues bursting at the seams already? i agree finding the right homes will be difficult, but you could do home checks your self, give lots of adviceetc etc , the ones who really would nt be that suitable i am sure would find that intimidating and fall at the first hurdle, you could also offer to deliver them x

You would need a nice big area. :) I believe 8 piggies in total, all living together would need about 2x8 C&C grids.

But it would be nice to fit them all in.

This is why i don't really want to do the whole rescue thing. They have millions already and I can care for them here till I find the right homes :) I've turned down so many people this week just because of how they asked me. "oh, I'll have one off you, they look cute. They just eat lettuce right?" GAH! Sister in laws had a lecture and she's keeping little boys indoors, and I can keep an eye on them! I feel sad though because they are MY babies:))

i really hope you find good homes for them, i think if you come across as not settling for 2 nd best, and they see how well you care for yours, then all should be well x

I would think so, but I'm just gestimating. Depends if it looks big enough to you really. You could think about adding a second level.

How about some pictures of where they are now, to help judge?
